On January 21st, 2012, I played my didjeridu continuously for 2:48:25, bettering the existing world record for circular breathing of 1:30:45. I will have video available soon.
I call my music World Chamber Folk, as it features a unique blend of the Western Classical tradition with folk traditions from around the world, including Middle-Eastern music, the music of the Australian Aboriginal people via the didgeridoo, and American folk traditions, along with the energy of Rock 'n' Roll.
The instrumentation reflects the stylistic fusion, with ensembles ranging in size from duo to quintet that feature flute, violin, viola, ‘cello, bassoon, didgeridoo, guitar, and Middle-Eastern percussion.
I have played at festivals such as Seattle’s Northwest Folklife, the One World, One People festival in Monterey, California, and Portland’s ArtQuake, in local venues that include bars, coffeehouses, schools, and retirement communities, and house concerts in Oregon, California, and British Columbia.
I can perform with musicians that I bring with me, with local musicians, or as a solo didgeridoo performer.
Contact me at 503-754-3250 or didj@fbear.net.
After many years in Portland, Oregon, I now live in St. Louis, Missouri.
